Tech as a Catalyst: Navigating a Brighter Future for MGAs

The recent MGAA Annual Conference 2025 was nothing short of energising. With over 1,250 delegates in attendance, it showcased just how far the MGA market has come and just how ambitious it is about where it’s heading. The theme, ‘Navigating a Brighter Future,’ couldn’t have been more fitting…

Playing Your Cards Right with REG

The event brought together a wide cross-section of the market — MGAs, insurers, tech providers, regulators, and brokers — all looking to explore how the industry can evolve in the face of rising expectations, regulatory scrutiny, and shifting customer needs. But among the many ideas circulating the exhibition halls and breakout sessions, one theme stood out: technology is the route forward.

As Silver Sponsors of the MGAA, we were proud to exhibit at the heart of the event. At REG, our message was clear: play your cards right and don’t leave compliance to chance. Not just a catchy strapline, it encapsulates the strategic decisions MGAs need to make in order to stay compliant, competitive, and confident in a fast-shifting landscape.

Too often, we see firms juggling multiple spreadsheets, relying on email trails, and piecing together data from different systems to maintain compliance and manage counterparties. This isn’t sustainable, especially as regulatory complexity grows and margins tighten. But the good news is that MGAs are waking up to this reality and are ready to act.

Across the conference, the conversation shifted from if technology should be adopted to how quickly it can be implemented. Whether talking about onboarding, due diligence, TOBA management or Fair Value reporting, there was a common theme around the need for streamlined, digital-first solutions that drive clarity and control.

A Sector Ready to Lead

MGAs are uniquely positioned within the insurance value chain. Their nimble operating models and entrepreneurial spirit give them a significant edge, and increasingly, they’re using that advantage to lead on innovation.

The conference reaffirmed that the MGA community isn’t just open to adopting technology, but eager to use it to unlock faster, smarter, safer ways of working. Leaders are no longer asking whether RegTech can help, and instead shifting their mindset and asking how to embed it into their day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.

We saw real momentum around embracing tools that deliver real-time insights, automated compliance tracking, and board-level reporting without manual intervention. There’s a growing recognition that the old ways — spreadsheet sprawl, manual checks, siloed systems — are no longer fit for purpose. The future belongs to those who make data work harder and faster.

The Future Is Powered by Technology

At REG, we believe MGAs should be empowered to trade with confidence, speed and transparency. That’s why we’ve built solutions that remove the manual burden from risk and compliance processes — allowing firms to focus on what really matters: building relationships, growing business, and delivering value to clients.

Our stand at the conference gave us the chance to showcase how REG helps MGAs gain clarity on their counterparty risk, streamline onboarding, monitor compliance maturity, and prepare for audits — all with fewer resources and in less time. This is the kind of technology that empowers strategic decision-making.

One of the most encouraging aspects of the MGAA Conference was the sense of shared purpose. The MGA market has always been rooted in strong relationships, and events like this are a powerful reminder of how important collaboration is in driving industry-wide progress. Throughout the day, we spoke with MGAs of all sizes and specialisms, and while their challenges varied, their ambitions were aligned: to create a more agile, efficient, and resilient future. Whether through tech adoption, culture shifts, or new distribution strategies, the appetite for progress was unmistakable.

Our focus on turning compliance into a competitive advantage, resonated with many. By reducing manual work, increasing visibility, and accelerating workflows, MGAs are freeing up time and resource to focus on growth and innovation.

Looking Ahead

The MGA market is at a pivotal point. The right strategies, supported by the right tools, will define who thrives and who falls behind. As the industry continues to evolve, those who “play their cards right” by investing in the right technology will be the ones to navigate the road ahead with confidence. We’re proud to be part of that journey.

At REG, our mission is to accelerate trade by giving MGAs the tools they need to reduce risk, improve efficiency, and stay ahead of change. We’re excited to continue supporting this dynamic, future-focused community as it sets its sights on what’s next.
