Paul Tasker: The Future of REG

With REG’s impressive growth over the last few years and recent expansion into new markets, we asked CEO, Paul Tasker, what the company’s biggest achievements have been since his appointment, the goals for next year and what the future holds for REG…

SINCE YOU BECAME CEO IN APRIL 2020, WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE REG'S 3 GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS?

Firstly, the way the team flourished during the COVID pandemic. We continued to foster a positive culture which included growing our workforce during lockdown as well as helping hundreds of businesses manage their risks at such uncertain times. We know our solution helped many of them grow and flourish too.

Aligned to our growth is our product innovation and development. We build solutions that are ready when our customers need them and that takes great vision, great execution and sometimes backing your own intuition!

Thirdly, I would have to say the excellent customer success record we have, which has been delivered by a team that was built over that period and has delivered industry beating net promoter scores. If winning customers is an art, keeping them is a science. We use a lot of tech to help us understand our customers’ sentiments and feelings so our people can focus on making sure we help them achieve optimal results.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS YEAR?

Building on our success in the insurance market we are entering adjacent verticals in financial services. We recognise that these regulated businesses face very similar challenges to our insurance customers and similarly are under-catered in out of the box tech solutions. When we looked at sectors such as private equity and hedge funds, we appreciate both the scale and the demographics. Like insurance, there are thousands of businesses for whom meeting KYB obligations is slow, costly and to be frank, tiresome.  However, regardless of size or business type, these firms are all equally responsible to regulators, targets for financial crime and responsible for oversight.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

We’ve recently opened a branch in Lisbon and we are looking at opportunities in the US. We are not jumping in with two feet though. We’ve been building our data capabilities for the US market for some time now and are using some great tech to make sure we can deliver what US based businesses will want. I recognise that working with a partner could be a great route for us and there are a lot of meetings with interested parties going on.

Ultimately, B2B financial services businesses will be continually challenged by rising crime, regulation and supply chain risk.  Our future is to be the go-to solution for these people.
